Bookkeeper and Office Administrator

Littleport Town Council have an exciting opportunity for a Bookkeeper and Office Administrator to assist the Town Clerk with the day-to-day running of the office 10-12 hours per week including a Friday morning 9-1 pm. Additional hours may be required for holiday/sickness cover for the Town Clerk and Deputy Clerk

We are ideally seeking someone with bookkeeping and customer service experience. The ideal candidate must be personable, motivated and enthusiastic. The position will offer the right individual the opportunity to develop their skillset through training and mentoring.

Main tasks:

  • Data input to purchase ledger and cashbook for all Town Council and Village Hall account payments, creating purchase orders and invoices, and submitting VAT returns using Rialtas Software (full training will be provided)
  • To assist with Village Hall/Community Building Bookings, including producing invoices and banking receipts as necessary
  • To assist with making and receiving payments, maintaining the council’s cash book, and ensuring management information is available in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist colleagues in project management, liaising with suppliers, and assisting the Town Clerk & RFO with the internal and external audits
  • Assisting with the Council’s allotment and burial functions
  • Assisting with preparing for, and clerking the Council’s Planning Committee
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Town Clerk

 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office with a good understanding of Word and Excel
  • High levels of accuracy, literacy and numeracy
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have basic knowledge of bookkeeping
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

Salary:  SCP 19 £14.48 per hour

Holiday: 23 days + 2 Statutory Days and 8 Bank Holidays (Pro Rata)
