The Friends of the Woodland Garden committee are delighted to announce that we have received a ‘Pride of Place’ grant from East Cambs District Council for the creation of a naturalising wildlife pond in Peacocks Meadow.
This will off-set to a very small degree the catastrophic loss of natural ponds in Cambridgeshire (98% in the last 40 years). Our aim is for it to also become a teaching resource for our community, with a pond-dipping platform that can be used by local schools and groups.
The construction will be carried out by a contractor over the winter, but the landscaping and planting will be completed by our lovely community volunteers.
